Ask A Stupid Question Day Is Celebrated More Than Just One Day A Year

Why is it when you are late for work or school, you catch every red light?

Who is smarter - boys or girls?

What is heavier - a pound of feathers or a pound of bricks?

Ask a Stupid Question Day is celebrated on Sept. 28 and my family is practicing for that special day. As my daughter puts it: girls are smarter because God made them that way. Who can argue with that logic? Besides my son and husband.

The genius holiday has been celebrated in the states since the 1980s. Traditionally, it is celebrated on the last day of instruction in September. The holiday was created by teachers who were determined to get their kids involved in the learning process. I am sure they have regretted it ever since.

Asking stupid questions is essential for growing. We ask stupid questions every day. If you say that you don't, you are living in denial.

So in the spirit of the holiday, I decided to share some of the stupid questions I was asked just today in my own household. Granted, my total is a lot higher since I do live with a very curious three-year-old.

Who should I vote for? (you can't vote-you are eight)

Can I stay up to see if they make a first down? (son once again trying to get out of going to bed)
Why do I have to take a bath?

Can I stay home from church to play the Wii?

Why can't I have candy for dinner?

Remember that thing with the big head that went, "aaah, aaaah" when you pushed its hair?

Can I have a band-aid? This one deserves some explanation. My daughter has just found out about band-aids. I give them to her now just to not hear her whine begging for one. Today was no different. After ten minutes of crying over a hurt thumb, I went and got her a band-aid. Only to have her ask if she could put it on herself. I said yes. This is what she said next: "Which thumb is it?"

I think that one wins the award for today's stupidest question!

In the spirit of the holiday, I am issuing a challenge. What question wins the award in your family for today? Share it in the comments and we can all enjoy some consolation that we are not alone in this world of plowing through stupid questions.

HA! I laughed out loud! Which thumb is it--love it :-) I will have to think about the myriad of dumb questions asked over the years. I'll get back to you; Lord bless you and have a great week!
