The Start Of A New Season

It is that time of the year again! The time when baseball gloves are dusted off and the games begin.

Those who know me excuse my behavior during this time of the year. They excuse the tv always being on a game, or me dressed in baseball shirts, or the annoying screaming from the stands.

I love baseball. I love the smell of the leather on the glove. I love sneaking over to watch the little t-ball kids and their excitement. I love seeing a kid hit their first homerun.

I fell in love with baseball at a very young age. I love the way the game can be decided in a blink of an eye. One pitch can make the difference between a good game and a bad game.

Life is often like the game of baseball. New seasons come and go and decisions and circumstances can in a blink change the outcome of our life.

My family is starting not just a new season of baseball. We are doing that and this past week will spend more time on a baseball field then at home, but we are also starting a new season in our life.

A few months back, we were thrown a curveball. My husband was told his job would end. This is his last week on the job.

The great thing about baseball is that there is always a climax to every game. It may be the game winning grand slam that causes your team to win the playoff spot or it could be the strikeout that keeps you out.

The same is true in our life. We are starting this new season by opening up our own business. Great timing, right? We are aware we are in a recession right now. We are aware of the risks.

There is some things that many leave out when discussing baseball and that is the determination and skill level of the players. My husband has both these characteristics.

So as we embark on this new season, we will cheer and jeer at times. However, we know that in the end, it is all about playing the game.

Besides, what happens when you strike out? You dust yourself off and get right back up to try again. All it takes is one pitch to make a game turn around. This is also true in life.

I am looking forward to the same excitement on and off the field this new season. Hopefully in the end, we will bring home the trophy both in real life and of course, on the field.

Go Astros!

Uh oh Gary-them are fighting words :) My son plays his first league game this season tonight against (guess who)-the Diamondbacks! So you can go for the real team, but tonight you have to say Go Angels!

Thanks for all of the encouragement as always!!! You are a great fan!
