The Wishing Rock In The Movie Shorts: What is Your Wish?

My family and I attended a showing of the new kid's movie, Shorts this past weekend.

After getting over the fact that you need to take out a second mortgage on your home these days to go to the movie theater, we settled it to what was sure to be an adventure.

The premise of the movie is that a wishing rock turns the town upside down after wishes go awry. It is a humorous movie for all ages as wishes end up back firing on the community leaving the kids having to save the day after the adults take over the rock.

My four year old loved the movie. She thought it was pretty funny. My eight year old expected more from it, but did say it was a good movie.

AFter we left the movie theater, we began discussing what we would wish for if we knew we could have any wish come true.

"I would wish I was a princess!" the four year old shouted out. I am beginning to see a pattern with her and I am not sure how to feel about that.

My sons response was exactly what I would expect from a kid with no self-confidence. "I wouldn't know what to wish for because mine would probably end up coming out wrong like the kids in the movie."

My husband's turn was much the same stating that everyone always thinks about the present or what they need at that moment instead of the future.

My daughter, however, had it covered with the princess wish and agreed that she would let me live in her castle. Guess I am warming up to this princess fascination, because I could totally live in a castle.

Anyhow, it brought up a good question. We all have wishes. What would we do if they came true? Would we be content? Would they backfire? Would we want or expect more?

I sometimes feel like a wish machine as my family places demands on me each day, but then I think how much more God is treated like that.

We are continually taking requests/wishes to God. Glad he knows more than me in order so that my wishes do not backfire on me.
