Do You Roll The Toilet Paper Over Or Under?

Apparently there are some really strong opinions on the subject of rolling toilet paper over or under.
Cottonelle is bringing the debate out of the bathroom and into the public forum and I have to admit it is not a pleasant subject in some households.
At the time of writing this article, 76 percent of the public is voting for over while 24 percent votes for rolling it under.
In my own house, my neurotic husband likes it under. He believes it just feels right to go under. Whatever that means. I really do not care one way or the other, but I like to argue with him.
Therefore my official take is that I like it over because it does not touch the wall that way. It is also how hotels put it and they have to know something, right?
However, as a recent mom of toddlers, I can see the benefits of under. Moms out there know that sinking feeling when you enter a bathroom covered with toilet paper. Sadly, I still enter a rolled bathroom every now and then when the dog has managed to grab some and take off running.
According to Cottonelle maker Kimberly-Clark's website, a previous survey has already been completed and the results found that this touchy subject can cause some heated debate among friends and family.
"To get the conversation started, the Cottonelle brand surveyed 1,000 American adults ages 18-65+ on their toilet paper hanging habits. Among the surprising survey findings: Half of those surveyed pay attention to which way the toilet paper is hanging, and 1 in 5 gets annoyed when it's hanging the wrong way. Men are more likely to notice and be annoyed if it's not to their liking. One in five queried (19%) confessed to changing the way the toilet paper is hung even when in someone else's home. Overs are more likely to go that far, with more than a quarter (27%) admitting to doing so. Ease of grabbing and habit are the main reasons why those surveyed hang their toilet paper a certain way."
This campaign will be the deciding factor in actors Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's own house.
Cottonelle also found some interesting facts about what it means about you as an individual dependent on what way you face the toilet paper roll.
"If you roll over, you like taking charge, crave organization and are likely to over-achieve. If you roll under, you're laid-back, dependable and seek relationships with strong foundations. If you don't care as long as it's there, you aim to minimize conflict, value flexibility and like putting yourself in new situations."
So what are your thoughts? Do you like it over or under? Be sure to go vote as well so Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott can settle the argument in their own house. Visit http://www.cottonellerollpoll.com/ and vote.

Top-level comments on this article: (3 total)Hi Laura. We've had guests change the direction of the roll, but then we've had guests change the setting on our thermostat (never could figure that one). We are an "under" household. We both think that it makes it easier to tear off what you want with only one hand. But I'm adaptable and can use it either way. How about that! :)I've seen the commercial, but hadn't realized it was such a big issue. Just all seems silly to me.Hugs,Dianne
This is a no brainer. Obviously, the roll should be hung to roll over. A better question would be, why do I always end up having to replace the roll not only at home, but at work, at friends, everywhere I go? Why is that?
Funny article Laura. I'm an over person but only because I hit my fingertips on the wall if it is hung under. I'm not fanatical about it but I do like it over. Like Brianna, I always seem to be the one who has to hang a new roll left empty by the previous 'occupant.' But as you said, hanging it over sure makes it easy for kids and our pets to unroll the entire thing.Like Dianne I think it's kinda silly but oh well.Blessings
